I have made myself a flower garden in the backyard where a bunch of trees were growing. I really could not grow grass there very well anyway. I decided I needed some fun flowers and it has truly just grown into a weed pit. The other day I weeded the whole thing and now my flowers actually look nice. I have squirrels who love flower bulbs so all the bulbs I have planted never even got a chance to take root so I had a few large blank patches in my garden. I decided to go buy some flowers to fill in the spaces.
I have these huge blue flowers growing in the middle and was going for a fun mid size flower for around that and planted my daisies. I love daisies, they are such a happy flower. I simply want to paint a little smily face on each and every center. Anyway, then I was going for something 12 inches or below and found some pretty pink and white flowers promised not to grow over 12 inches.
I am so proud it actually looks pretty with the new mulch and the blooms and no weeds, that is except for the large patch of blue tall flowers laying down now where Kozmo decided to take a running dash through them. I keep watering them hoping they will stand once more but alas, they have hung their pretty blue heads in defeat to the dog.

My in-laws have been here for this past week and I can not believe all the things that have gotten done around the house. I am so tired tonight I just want to fall into bed, but we have really been keeping patsy and willie even more busy.
Willie asked for a list of things to do while he was here for the weekend and I promptly made one up. He is a great fixer around the house man. My list included things like spray poison for ants, fix Joshua’s dresser drawer, put in a fan up in the Living room, change out the light in the kitchen (got nuked in the lighning storm), help mulch my flower beds, doug added put florecent lights up in the garage. These were almost done after day one. These are things I have wanted done for months or years, done in a day! I was so excited.
Today Doug and Patsy started on the garage and cleaned it almost all out by the time Willie and I got back from Lowes with mulch. Then Willie and Doug finished it up this afternoon. Doug has wanted his garage cleaned for 2 years. It looks soooooo nice.
One that makes me really happy though was that I got my half bath painted (yeah!) My mother in law dealt with kids while I painted all day. She has also been chopping! I have chicken chopped up into the tiniest pieces in my freezer to use in the future. My mother in law took pity on me since I can’t eat meat and chopped the chicken so small you can hardly taste it when it is in caseroles . I am getting protien for the first time in weeks. Every time I even cooked meat I would gag but now it is done for me! Sooo nice!
Patsy has also done about a month worth of Laundry. I have just not been able to keep up I have been so sick and miserable. Laundry folded and half put away, guess that is my job for tomorrow. Who would have known we could get so much done?

My in-laws came to visit for the week and got in Tuesday night. We were all sitting around talking with the kids about what we were going to do this week while they were here. They came in a little earlier than planned so they could go to Justin’s pre-school graduation on Wednesday morning.
So here is the conversation that took place Tuesday night just before the kids are going to get ready for bed. Willie “Justin, tomorrow is your big day, what is going on tomorrow?” Justin “It’s my graduation at my pwe school” Willie “Oh that is going to be fun, what are you going to do?” Justin “We are all going to go to Kick and Punch!”
Now my motherly instincts go in full gear and I begin to freak out. I say “No Justin, we don’t kick and punch our friends, we treat our friends kindly, Sensei would be so sad if she found out you were kicking and punching your friends at graduation, Kicking and punching is only for Karate practice, we don’t kick and punch our friends!”
Justin is looking at me like he is clueless as to what I am trying to say. I lean forward to explain even better when Doug says “That was cake and punch Carla” OHHHHHH I say “You are excited about the cake and punch after your graduation, right Justin?” He says ” Yeah, everyone can have kick and punch too!”

I finished putting in my garden yesterday. I still had cucumbers and a couple of tomato plants to go and everything else has been in for a couple of weeks. I have been postponing the rest because it has not quit being cold and rainy now since I put the first part in. It feels more like early winter than spring. I don’t like cold rainy days, they are so depressing!
Well, in the rain, I put in the rest of my garden. I put big tomato cages over my tomatoes along the whole front of the garden in between rows of veggies. In the back I put more tomato cages and 3 foot trellises for my cucumbers to climb up. As you look at my garden there are no paths through it unless you go up and around.
You may wonder why I left no paths. A garden is suppose to have paths to get around to weed etc, this I know, but most of those path leaving people do not have a big bad bounding dog who loves to run through dirt!
Doug, rather than walking the dog for normal exercise, throws his frisbee in the back yard. It usually goes all the way past my garden and Kozmo sees just how many ways through my garden and then down the hill he can go to return it. He sits up there and plots his route before he makes the move. I am telling you, nine times out of ten it is one way or another through the garden. When that 55 pound mutt bounds there is more than a little dirt, seed and root that go flying. I think the feel of loose dirt on his feet is quite exhilarating to his little puppy brain.
This love of loose dirt is probably the reason he loves the sand box so much. There really is no room for my poor children when Kozmo is laying sprawled out or digging a corner out himself. I just had to put 250 pounds of sand in the box to make the corners less accessible to him. If he wrecks my garden though, he is going to be in big trouble! I can’t just keep replacing dirt like I can sand. Big bad digging bounding naughty dog. See I am thinking up words for his eulogy already, not boding well for the dog.

So being pregnant has never been a fun thing for me. I am a sick emotional mess most of the time. The Hal-mark Card commercials make me cry, yes that bad! So, being sick and miserable and the fact that this baby is a vegetarian and refuses to let any beef or pork near it, I have found very little protein I can swallow without knowing it will come right back up. Chicken in small doses seems to work, but very small doses. Really, I must not actually taste it, it has to be covered well with something.
I am an evening sickness person. I think they just say morning sickness because it sounds better. Actually, mornings tend to do well by me so I know I must get all important things done in the morning before noon. At noon the spiral into evening sickness begins.
I was feeling rather good the other morning so I boiled 5 lbs of chicken to freeze for meals later when I did not feel like cooking for my poor family. I say that because they have eaten pretty much pasta and bread for weeks. I pulled my cooked chicken out of the boiling water and put it on a plate to cool while I ran some Tastefully Simple over to a friend. Kozmo was down stairs with daddy so I knew I was safe. I pushed the plate back on the counter and off I went.
I came back and there were 2 chicken breasts left on the plate. The first thing I thought was, Ahhhh Doug is being so sweet, he knows how sick I have been and how meat gags me he put it away for me, what a great guy. The fact he has never before taken the initiative to do such a thing did not even cross my mind. I really usually do go for the positive thinking thing.
I turned around and saw Kozmo laying on the living room floor panting like it was 100 degrees outside, or he had just run a doggie marathon. I still was clueless. I went downstairs to thank my wonderful husband for putting the chicken away.
When Doug told me he did not do it, we both just looked at each other. He had let the dog out of captivity, Loose dog, nothings safe, including a plate with 5 pounds of chicken. Oh was I mad. I went back upstairs and he is laying on his back with all 4 feet up in the air like he is dying. I yank him to his feet and put him in his kennel thinking of the many reasons I dislike this dog.
He simply laid down continuing to pant like he had run for miles. Suddenly the pictures of the coyotes and wolves and lions from the Discovery channel Doug loves to watch so much came to mind. After they eat their fill at a kill they lay around panting to help with the digesting. The crazy panting made sense now, he had definitely over eaten and this was the wild dog way to help digest all that food! UGHGGH!
Later that afternoon I am talking on the phone and get up from the couch to walk over to the kitchen when my toes strike something cold and softish. There was a chicken breast with the canine teeth marks in it left on my carpet. I had not seen it among all the toys since it matches my carpet perfectly. The dog thought he could eat one more but just could not manage to do the deed so left it while panting the rest away. Yes, 5 pounds of boneless skinless chicken minus 3 chicken breasts.

I someday may venture to write Kozmo’s top ten list of favorite things to chew, but right now it is too close to home and I am not ready to joke it off quite yet. Now shoes though, would certainly be on that list. Shoes may even make the top 3.
Poor Justin was on his last pair of shoes as Kozy had done in all his others. Tiffany’s little heart just breaks when she finds yet another pair of her shoes tasted by the big bad teethy dog. Tiffy and Josh had gone to Wal-Mart with daddy a few weeks back and gotten 3 new pair. Justin was not with daddy so He still had just his one pair left.
So, I am cleaning the living room and I found one shoe on the living room floor with the entire front inch…...... gone. If it was not so jagged you would think a big sharp scissors had chopped off the toes. Well, it was Wednesday so Doug had to teach at church but Justin had to have new shoes. I took him to Wal-Mart while Doug took Josh and Tiffany to Church.
Justin was very excited about getting his new shoes. He picked out tennis shoes, sandals and swimming shoes and did it all in a matter of 10 min, it was hilarious, I know Tiffany would have taken much much much longer. Oh the many differences in boys and girls.
So I made Justin wear his hole shoe because he just did not have anything. He was very proud of the fact he still had a pair of soccer cleats he was happy to wear but I vetoed that and on with the hole. As he is leaving Wal-Mart we are almost to the car when he lifts his foot and off drops the hole shoe. On either side of the shoe lay pieces parts of his lace. I can just not figure out how that shoe made it though about 7 slipping on and offs and walking around the store without falling apart first. It was like it was just walking it’s last, it could do no more just ready to rest in pieces. Speaking of pieces I could not believe how many pieces the lace was in, I did not even pick them all up it was like it had completely denigrated on his foot, unbelievable! Justin just smiles up at me and says “Guess I should put on my new shoes huh mom?” Tiffany would have been morning the loss, Justin, he is just on with the show.

Whenever we let Kozmo out, ever so unintentionally, into the front yard he runs happily off. This is rather aggravating as I can not even pretend to run as fast as he can. I jog one way only to have him jogging the other. I can just hear him taunting me “Run Run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Dog”.
Now is when you think I may be loosing it a little, maybe becoming a bit cracked, but I am telling you, this dog is that naughty! My pride was salved a bit though when he escaped Doug last night and would not even listen to his own master. Doug was chasing this dog for a good 10 min. Doug was quite angry with him and I was mostly amused. Finally, in my almost amused voice but not mocking because Doug was becoming maybe a bit cracked himself, I yelled for Kozmo to Come from the front door and in he trotted then off to get a drink of water. Needless to say he did not get any of his new toys Justin and I had just picked out at Wal mart for him until this morning.
